At the age of 8 years old with the help and mentorship of my grandfather Jack, I fell in love with creating things with my hands. His knowledge and creativity inspired me to continue my artistic journey for over a decade. In 2016, I took my first blacksmithing class at the Berkeley Trackers program facility. After that day, I never looked back! A few months later, I started doing work out of the shop of Herb Upham, the previous secretary of the California Blacksmith Association. It was there that I really began to develop my craft, and learned how to use more advanced forging tools and techniques such as a power hammer, welder/forge welding, industrial grinders, drills, etc. When I began handcrafting quality knives, I started selling them in local shops and on apps such as Instagram and Facebook.
Flash forward to the present, my shop is now based out of a community workspace in Sebastopol CA, called Chimera Arts and Makerspace. It is there that I create all of my pieces as well as teaching knife making and blacksmithing classes. I also teach blacksmithing at Credo High School in Rohnert Park, where I work with the freshman students and teach them the value of working with their hands. I truly love this craft and put it all into my work, hoping the person that takes home one of my creations will feel that same love.
